Nam Boak (Buak) Dam Hydropower by Hobo Maps - Go to Hydropower Projects Page - - Home

The project is located in Mok District, Xieng Khuang Province northern Lao PDR.

Nam Boak Hydropower project is developed by Lao-based Phongsubthavy Group with intent to sell output to Vietnam when the project is completed.

Nam Boak Hydropower Sole Ltd. may be the legal owner of the project but not sure.

The project is apparently still under construction in 2025.

The project is planned to have two Francis turbines with 0.98 meter runner diameter at 4.446 MW each = 8.89 MW total capacity.

The project has head of about 125 meters.

The penstock will be about 641 meters long with wall thickness from 10 millimeters to 20 millimeters.

Nam Boak Hydropower project is probably located somewhere on the Mok District map below but we aren't sure exactly where.

Various news reports in June 2021 reported that Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has exchanged power purchase contracts with Phongsubthavy Group for the Nam Yeuang hydropower plant cluster, the Nam Mo 2 project, Nam Tai, Nam Sak, Nam Sao and Nam Chao hydroelectric plants. Since Nam Boak HPP is probably located close to these plants, it might be easy to add output from it to this 220 kV export transmission line.
